Choline is essential for synaptic transmission, brain health, and fatty‑acid metabolism in the liver. For adults doing brain training, a minimum of 750 mg choline (from choline bitartrate) works best. (The more we use our brains, the more choline we consume.)
Lion’s mane helps grow new brain cells, improves multitasking, and strengthens neural interconnectivity over time. As with all mushrooms, warm or cook it before consumption. The more lion’s mane, the better for the brain.
Turmeric helps grow new brain cells. Take 2 teaspoons of turmeric with ¼ teaspoon black pepper; warm or cook for synergy. The curcumin also activates Nrf2, so it pairs well with glutathione‑rich foods.
Higher levels of hypocretin (orexin) improve multitasking and enable higher neural activity. Eating fruit before sleep has been shown to improve sleep quality and morning orexin levels. We build the body, including the brain, during sleep.
Schisandra berries (the fruit) improve multitasking and wakefulness.
Creatine monohydrate improves multitasking and wakefulness. Take 2 grams per day. However, most creatine powders use micronized particles and although not commonly known, unlike micronized glutathione this fast absorption can stress cells. Avoid micronized forms.
For maximum brain gains, cut alcohol, processed foods, meat, refined sugar, seed oils, and artificial additives, and minimize chemical exposure, stress, and sleep loss. If you feel stress while playing, it’s the productive kind, like a powerlifter’s training stress, building a stronger brain.
